One year ago, at 8:58pm, Judah was born. His birth was everything that I wanted it to be and more. The day was perfect. Maybe I will blog his birth story tomorrow.
This first year with him has been amazing. I am so thankful for how healthy he has been, for what a happy baby he is and for what a blessing he is in our lives.
I do not take it for granted. I know a lot of people who would give anything to have a healthy baby so, I know that we need to be thankful for him everyday.
So, what is he up to these days?
*He is crawling around super fast, pulling up on everything and cruising. He still doesn't try to walk and I think it'll be awhile still before he is a walker.
*He still takes a morning and an afternoon nap. I can see that he might be transitioning to just an afternoon nap soon but, for now, we are enjoying the 2 naps a day.
*He goes to bed around 8pm and sleeps through the night until around 7am.
*He has a lot of words for his age. He says Hi, Bye, Daddy, Ball and he tries to say bottle and potty.
*He is still nursing. He nurses 3 times a day and sometimes takes a bottle once a day. We are going to start the transition to whole milk but, I'm not going to rush it. We will just take our time. He has tried whole milk and he seems to like it. He isn't very good with a sippy cup yet though so, we will work on it slowly.
*He eats 3 meals a day and 1 or 2 snacks. For breakfast he always has oatmeal and fruit, lunch and dinner are sometimes pureed still or finger foods. He is really enjoying finger foods recently so, I think he will be done with purees soon. Now, he just needs to work on not throwing his food on the floor! Meal times can be difficult sometimes because he wants to take the spoon and try to feed himself but, he is not even close to being able to feed himself. So, it's a battle of the wills and finger foods are the way to go. The floor can get cleaned.
*He hasn't been weighed or measured since his 9 month check-up so, I can't report on how big he is. I take him tomorrow for his 1 year appointment though so, we will found out then!
*He wears size 18month clothes and a few 2T things fit him.
*He has a favorite blanket that he bundles up and holds while he sleeps at night. It is the most precious thing!
*He doesn't hold still when he is awake. He is constantly moving from one thing to another. He isn't interested in the TV or just sitting and playing with something. He is a very busy, curious boy.
*Before his naps and bedtime, we lay down together and read a couple stories. Then I put him in his crib awake and he doesn't fuss, he just goes to sleep.
*He is very happy almost all the time and such a joy.
Happy 1st Birthday Judah!
