Food ideas for a 14 month old?

Judah has always had a good appetite and he has always liked pretty healthy foods but, lately he's started this new thing......

He eats a few good bites and then he raises his hands in the air and says "DONE". When he says "done", I have about 15 seconds before whatever is left on his tray starts being thrown on the ground. After he decides he is done, he is done. You can make something different for him but, he won't eat it and he just continues to say "done". He has decided that he is done and he means it.

I'm sure it's just a phase so, I'm not really worried about it. I know that if he's really hungry, he'll eat. He seems to still like the food that we are offering but, he just doesn't want to be eating for very long.

So, my question is: What foods did your kids like when they were his age? Any tricks/tips/suggestions?

  1. My kids had a few favorites that they would DEVOUR, strawberries, grapes, bananas, peas & crackers. Yes, we had some lovely diapers. Don't worry about the lack of much appetite. If he isn't just over-filling up on milk and juice, then you don't need to worry. :)

  3. I was thinking the same thing as Camilla about having too much juice. If I did give juice (we mostly just do water) I would need to hand it over after the kids took a couple bites. I was also thinking not to worry though. My kids have all gone through a period where they are more interested in walking around and exploring than sitting at a high chair. They also all did the thing where if I didn't take them out the moment they were done, everything would be on the floor.

Here's one fun lunch idea (I'm not sure if Judah's eating all these foods yet). I cut up carrots and apples and put them on a plate with some peanut butter and raisens. They dip the carrot or apple in peanut butter and then raisens. It's kind of fun:) I guess that's my one suggestion. Think of ways to make his food time fun.
