Silk Flower with Button

This afternoon I got the urge to craft. I've been wanting to make some sort of a little decoration to put on the curtain that my sister helped me make for Paisley's room. Honestly, she did about 95% of the work and I love the curtain. You can read about it here.

I wanted to add a girly touch to the green curtain so, I decided to put a pink flower on it. The flower is an awesome raspberry color and it matches some of the things that I painted for her room.

All you need is:
1 silk flower
1 button
Some thread
A needle
5-10 minutes without small children "helping" you. Needles don't mix well with kids.

Carefully pull the flower off the stem and then pull all the petals off the little plastic pieces that hold it together.
Stack all the petals back up on top of each other to make it look like a flower again.
Go find a cute button. I keep all my extra buttons in a ziplock bag because you never know when you'll need one! I choose a green button to put in the center of the flower because it matches the curtain.
Sew the button into the center of the flower. Start stitching from the back of the flower so that the end of your thread is on the back of the flower and not the front. Sew the button on really tightly.
Here is how the curtain looked before.
I safety pinned the flower to the curtain......Taaaa Daaaa!
I think I want to make a whole bunch of these to put along the top of this curtain. How cute would that be?!

  1. that looks absolutely great!!

  2. Love it. I never thought of putting a flower like that on curtains. I thought you were going to put it on a headband for baby P. :) Love it.

Thank you for your comments. I read every single one of them and they always make me smile.
