MOPS Morning, New Freschetta Winner and Random Acts of Kindness Update

Early this morning, the kids and I headed out to MOPS. As I'm rushing to get out the door, I always have a moment of wondering if it's worth it. But, you know what? It always is! MOPS was amazing today. One of our Mentor Moms talked about when Moses was a baby and how his mother had to turn him over into Jesus's care by putting him in a basket in the river. It was a really great devotional that reminded me how much I need to seek God and ask Him to show me how to be a mother to Judah and Paisley. The devotion gave me a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes.

We also watched a really touching video that also made me cry. The video showed a bunch of moms holding up signs that said  some sort of advice or something that they wished someone would've told them before they became a mommy. Here is a link to find the video. If you are a mom, or you ever plan on becoming a mom, I encourage you to watch it.

Another fun thing at MOPS this morning, that didn't make me cry, were the cooking demos! We learned how to make homemade tortillas, crock pot re-fried beans, spanish rice and pico de gallo. Everything was so good that I bought the ingredients to make the recipes this afternoon when we went grocery shopping. We had taco salad for dinner with fresh pico de gallo and it was amazing! I think most people that read my blog know me in "real" life. If by some chance, you aren't part of a MOPS group and you wish you were, please let me know and I'll try to help you find one in your area. Having the support of other moms is so important.

When we came home from MOPS, we had a huge box labeled "TOYS" sitting on our front porch. Turns out, Mego Bloks sent us a huge kit to throw a Big Block Party. I like parties, I like blocks and I like blogging so, this is going to be fun. Now we just need to gather up some friends and have a get together. All the kids will get to go home with their own packages of Mega Bloks and Mega Bloks will also be providing a door prize! The only catch is that I'll have to take pictures and blog about the party but, I think that's totally worth it to get fun new toys and have an excuse to have friends over.
Judah must have been wound up from his fun morning at MOPS because he never fell asleep for his nap. He did play happily on his bed though so, I was thankful for that. When he gets too old for napping, we will have an afternoon "quiet time" because we all need it and I think it's good for kids to have some down time everyday.

After nap time was over, we headed to a consignment shop in town where I had some credit, to see if they had any fun Halloween Costumes. I found Judah a Train Conductor costume and also a Bob the Builder costume. Both of them are super cute and Judah loves them. I also found an adorable ballerina costume for Paisley that I'm excited about. Judah loves dressing up and I need to make a point of getting him more fun costumes to wear.
Don't worry, normally he'll be wearing a shirt under his conductor overalls that matches a little better than this one does. This picture was taken as soon as we walked in the door and put the costume on over his clothes.
For a few days, I've been meaning to do an update about our Random Acts of Kindness Challenge for October. I feel like it's starting to become more "second nature" to help people out and that's what I wanted to have happen. I wanted to be a good example to Judah and Paisley and also train myself to become more aware of how I can help people around me.
Here's what I don't like......I don't like blogging about certain things that we do. Some things are meant to not be shared so, I'll just tell you a few things that we've done that I can tell made someone happy.
---Offer to watch a friends kids for awhile.
---Bring a tired friend some coffee.
---Send a friend a note in the mail.
---Give a family in need some of your kids clothes.
---Offer to help someone clean.
I feel like the challenge has been good for us but, when we committed to it, I didn't realize how hard it would be to write about some things. I plan to keep it up until the end of the month and make it more of a lifestyle to be kind to others but, I'm sure we'll always be a work in progress. I feel like being intentional about it this month has made me more aware of how easy it can be to help someone else.

Lastly and maybe most importantly, I need to announce a second WINNER for the Freschetta Pizza Giveaway. The winner I announced last Friday never contacted me and I have no way of getting in touch with her so..............the NEW WINNER IS (courtesy of Random.org)...........................................................
"Pizza is my comfort food. I will pretty much eat any pizza...frozen pizzas usually don't taste as good to me...Eric and I LOVE the special from Frosos in Marysville. It weighs about 600 pounds and has all kinds of interesting toppings...yummmmmm :) The boys prefer homemade cheese pizza or breadsticks dipped in ranch :)"

How fun! Please just give me permission to send your address to the people over at Freschetta and they will get your prize right out to you!
