A Day in the Life

Recently I stumbled across a super fun blog. To say Ali Edwards is talented, is like the understatement of the year. I will never be the amazing scrapper that she is but, I'm still going to have some fun and join in with her on "A Day in the Life". Basically, I took pictures throughout our day today and took mental notes of our crazy moments, fun times, sweet details and our ordinary day. So, without further ado....here we go!

6:05am-Alarm goes off for me to go to the gym. I'm the kind of girl that needs her alarm across the room and it was set too close to the bed so, I quickly turn it off and I'm back asleep in 2.5 seconds. Opps.
7:15am-I hear Judah awake. He's still in his bedroom and we've been working on him staying in there so, I'm happy with that. I drag myself out of bed. I find that he's playing with an anti-fungal cream. Don't ask why we have that. Apparently "his animals are sick". I ask if he ate any of it and thankfully, he did not.
I put a show on for Judah so, I can have some coffee and a few minutes to wake up.

He wants to sit with me and eat a yogurt so, we end up having quiet morning time together. I made out list for the day, read my daily devotion and wrote out a little schedule for us. Recently a friend of mine suggested that I have the day more "scheduled" with Judah, so he has less opportunity to get into mischief (that's been going on way too much lately). I feel like having more planned activities is helping him.
I created a spot on my list for Judah. I asked him what he wanted to have on his list and he said "You put stickers on my list". Oh, if life was that easy! I wish my list only had stickers on it. Wouldn't that be nice?!
7:45am-Paisley wakes up. I do breakfast with the kids and then take a shower. As a stay at home mom with a 3 year old and 1 year old, taking a shower everyday sometimes seems nearly impossible. I've found that at every age my children are, there's always some sort of little trick to occupy them for a few minutes. Currently, Judah watches Caillou on our bed and Paisley plays in her play pen. It works and I'm way happier and more productive when I've taken a few moments to get ready for the day.

9:00am-I get Judah started on Play Dough and hope that I'll be able to get the dishes done, some laundry started, the dog fed and taken out and a few other things done, while he plays. Paisley still wants to eat playdough so, she just sits in her highchair and plays with the playdough tools.

Playdough lasts for a little while and then the kids are down and playing. Judah runs to the slider and asks if he can go out on the deck. I tell him "no" and explain that it's too cold. He opens the door anyway and then (accidentally) smashes his sister's finger in the door. Sigh....... I'm shaking my head. I wish he understood that I say these things for a reason and that bad things can happen when he doesn't listen to me.

We get a few more things down around the house and get ready to head over to my sisters to hangout.
10:15am- We're in the car and ready to roll out!
The kids played really well together and had a great time. I built them a fort and they were so sweet, pretending to "sleep" together.

While we were there, I took a few pictures of my sister. Her baby tummy is just starting to show and I love it!

Judah discovered that his cousin has an awesome Fire Fighting costume and he was super excited to be able to borrow it. I think he looks so cute!
We came home and the kids went down for naps. I got super tired and felt like I didn't know if I'd make it through the rest of the day. Then I heard Judah moving around in his room and found out that he wasn't falling asleep and that he'd peed instead. He really has hardly any accidents but, I still wasn't thrilled with all this extra laundry.
This is my tired, afternoon, no make-up look. Just being real!
4:00pm-After naptime, I put away laundry in the kids rooms while they played around. I laid this blanket out for Paisley and she immediately got cozy with a book. I am so enjoying the age that she's at. She's saying new words everyday and she's such a loving little girl.
Jeremiah stayed with the kids this evening and made dinner so, I could go to the gym. He was super Dad and I appreciate that! After I got home, we did the kids bedtime and I sat down to edit photos from today and eat my dinner.
So, there we go. That was a day in our life and it was actually a pretty good and fairly normal (minus the finger squishing) kind of day. Now, I'm off to go spend time with my hubby!

  2. I adore Ali Edwards. I have been addicted for the last couple of years. I almost did the Day in the Life project yesterday, but with Daniel and Mercy both home sick it didn't seem like a "typical" day, so I decided I'd wait and do it next week, or the week after. I did her "Week in the Life" project this past Summer and LOVE all the documenting and scrapbook pages I ended up with. Love the sweet details of your day. So sad about P's finger. And even you, tired, is beautiful :)
