Last night was one of those extra fun nights. After the kids were in bed, my sister came over to bake a cake with me. Before we started to bake, we sat and visited for awhile. My sister said that her baby was wiggling around so, I asked her to lie down on the floor and I put my hand on her tummy. Guess what? That sweet little baby gave the palm of my hand a little kick! And then...about a minute later, I felt it move again! Feeling my little niece or nephew move for the first time was without a doubt the best part of my day. I just love everything about pregnancy. Life is so amazing. I think I would have at least 10 kids, if they didn't all grow to be 1 year olds that throw tantrums and then 3 year olds that get into everything under the sun. No seriously, all jokes aside, pregnancy, birth and children are all so amazing.
The recipe for this cake is an "I am Baker" recipe, found HERE. For awhile now, I've been wanting to decorate a rose cake so, last night we went for it. "I am Baker" wrote a great tutorial on how to decorate a cake like this so, we basically just did what she told us to do. Turns out, decorating a rose cake is super fun! I was actually feeling a bit jealous of the people that get to do this stuff and get paid for it.
Baking with my sister was fun. Feeling her baby move was even more fun. Yep, it was a good night.
So....on a side note, I just have a little thought that I need to mention so, hear me out. If you're a mom like me and you struggle to always want everything done, if you feel like you can never slow down and if you hear yourself saying "No" more than "Yes", I want to encourage you to do something. Slow down. Try and say "Yes" more. The other day, I stopped folding laundry and left it on the dining room table for awhile. I never do that because I can't stand the look of laundry on my table. I think I fear that someone would stop by and I'd have laundry that's not put away. Oh please! Like they would care but, I really am blushing just thinking about that. Instead of dealing with the laundry, I sat with Judah and we watched a ladybug that he had just captured. He asked questions about it and we looked up ladybugs on the computer. We ended up having a huge learning moment for both of us and even though that moment was a few days ago, I'm still thinking about it. When we let the ladybug go, Judah waved to it and yelled "Bye, bye, lady bug! Go to preschool! Go find your friends!". My heart melted. If you can relate, try to slow down and then say "Yes" to your kids.
Lastly, one of my favorite bloggy friends Emily @ 52 Mantels is competing in a crafting competition. Not only is this girl talented but, she is NICE and that's the main reason that I like her. If you feel like it, go vote for her. It might make her day!
