One of the Best Gifts

This evening my husband gave me one of the best evening outside by myself to garden. After work, he did dinner with the kids while I spent the evening outside, in the sunshine. It was simply wonderful.

There's something so relaxing about gardening in the evening sunshine. I was able to plant our beets, carrots, onions, parsnips and radishes. I'm a beginner gardener so, I've been a bit hesitant about when to plant things. Our covered raised bed has no problems with the cold but, these new crops went into one of the uncovered beds. I hope they do alright and that it isn't too cold outside for them.
The peas are getting tall and they are looking for something to climb on. We need to get busy making them a trellis but, when the trellis goes in, the cover will need to come off of the bed for the summer.....and I don't feel quite ready to take it off just yet.
I love how this baby Zinnia still has it's seed attached. Isn't life amazing??? Somehow writing this reminds me of the Season Finale of 19 Kids and Counting. Oh my, I balled my eyes out. They lost their 20th child when Michelle was around 18 weeks pregnant. The way they recognized the life of that little baby was so beautiful. They talked about how Michelle had to deliver her unborn child and how at only 18 weeks, that precious, tiny baby had such distinctive features, fingers and toes. She was a person and she looked like the rest of their family. If I keep typing about this, I'm sure to start crying so, I'm done now.
So, thank you, dear husband for letting me have a quiet, gardening evening. It was perfect.
