Our Saturday in a Nutshell and Up-Cycling the Boring Old Hand Towel

Today has been a fun day, filled with lots of living and playing. When I woke up this morning, the sun was shining and I was eager to head out with the kids to garage sales. My sister and her oldest boy joined us and we all had a great time! I was so proud of how well the big boys behaved themselves. We had them hold one of our hands the entire time we were at each sale and they really did awesome!
During the afternoon, the kids napped and I attempted to sew flowers onto a cheap hand towel, that I recently picked up for our bathroom. I really wanted to sew ruffles onto the towel but, I tried that last night and ended up almost crying because, I really don't know how to sew very well at all. So, the ribbon flowers on this towel will have to do until I find myself a sewing mentor.
Later in the evening, my mom came over to watch the kids while my sister and I went to the cutest and super fun party. I guess you'd call it a Pinterest party because there was a ton of amazing food to try, straight from Pinterest, amazing decorating ideas and a sweet girl shared her story about how she and her family are moving to Africa. They're up and leaving their cozy and well established life to go into full time Missionary work and her story was so inspiring! Actually, everything tonight was super inspiring. I think I have enough project ideas right now to keep me busy for at least the entire summer!

So, maybe you're like me and you're getting sick of the plain old hand towels in your bathroom. Maybe you don't want to go out and buy the towel that's $10, just because it has some ruffles or a flower.
Here's how you can make your own.
•Grab some ribbon or fabric and sew a long running stitch. Next, pull your stitch tight, pulling the ribbon into a circle. Sew the ends together and then sew the flowers onto a towel. See??? It's super easy!

If these hold up well in the washing machine, I just might start buying lots of cheap and colorful hand towels, and then dressing them up.
Hope you've had a great Saturday as well!

  1. I like that idea! it would be a great addition to a new home or wedding gift basket! Or for someone going to college & make them in the college colors! If a guy doesn't want flowers, then a straight line would do also! I don't know how to sew yet either & I know there will be A LOT tears along the way... I do the same with drawing or painting!

  2. That is so cute! Let us know if they hold up in the wash! Stopping by from the Networking Blog Hop :)

  4. This is such a cute idea. I love it!

  5. How cute! Definitely dresses up the handtowel =)

  6. The plant's extract will put a protective coating
around the esophagus so helping control the stomach from refluxing.

This heavenly plant can even be grown within your garden to utilise its exemplary benefits.
Beside that using natural aloe vera is also very promising.

Thank you for your comments. I read every single one of them and they always make me smile.
