Appointments with my midwife have always been something that I love. When I was pregnant with Judah, I literally almost pinched myself every time I sat in that office. It was like a dream to be sitting there, in a room where the walls were covered with pictures of sweet babies and pregnant women were celebrated. I'll never forget when I went to my first appointment. As I sat in the room waiting for her to walk in, I kept on tearing up because I was so happy to be there. It's just me I guess....I become a happy mess when it comes to pregnant women and tiny babies.
21 months after Judah was born, I was back in that same office for my pregnancy with Paisley. My Mom watched Judah and it was time that I looked forward to as "me" time. Those times for Judah to be with his Grandma were precious and the afternoons alone were great. Come on...if you're a Mom, you know what I mean.
Now, I'm back again and while I often look forward to those times away by myself, I'm also enjoying a whole different side of these appointments....Judah is interested. He's almost 4 and he's a bright little guy. He wants to hear the baby's heartbeat. He wants to know why the nurse wears gloves. He wants to know about the blood pressure cuff and honestly, his interest in this pregnancy melts me.
His interest in the baby that's growing in Mommy's tummy is so much bigger than my need for an afternoon of precious "me time". Today I brought him with me and the time with him was so sweet.
We arrived early and they were running way behind, which is totally unusual. As we sat in the waiting room, he read magazines, colored, talked with me and for 70 minutes of waiting, he was so good. Yes, 70 minutes. I've never waited that long in my life.
He asked my midwife questions and when he heard the baby's heart beat, he told her that it sounded like a lion! What a great afternoon we had together.
Weight Gain: 14 pounds. More than I like saying but, less than with my other two so, I'm trying to be thankful for that and I'm trying to eat healthy!
How I'm Feeling: Good, as long as I eat as soon as I wake up and no one talks to me for a little while in the morning. :)
What I'm Wearing: Mostly regular clothes.
What I'm Eating/Craving: This week I've been craving steak covered in pepper (thank you sweet husband for cooking for me Sunday night).
How I'm Sleeping: Really well!
Emotions/Thoughts/Feelings: I'm feeling really excited to know the gender of this baby!
