My Word for 2013: Enjoy

En·joy
-verb
1. to experience with joy; take pleasure in.
2. to have and use with satisfaction; have the benefit of.
3. to find or experience pleasure for (oneself).
4. to undergo (an improvement).

My word for 2013 is ENJOY and I feel like it couldn't possibly be a better fit. For me, it means:

•To not only survive mothering a newborn, a sassy two year old and a busy four year old but, to enjoy these days with them. Because, they deserve it and so do I.
•Being passionate that survival mode is not good enough. We were given this one precious life and it's meant to be enjoyed, even in the busy and chaotic moments.
•To find a new rhythm once we have the new baby, a new routine that will fit us well for this season.
•Realizing that change is okay and sometimes change needs to happen to truly enjoy
•Celebrating the awesomeness of others and looking for the good in people.
•Encouraging my children to be who God created them to be and celebrating with them who THEY are.
•Enjoying the simple moments.
•Enjoying the ordinary and remembering that ordinary isn't any less important.
•Remembering that a thankful heart is a happy heart.
•Saying yes to the things that belong in this season and feeling free to say no to the things that don't.
•Encouraging creativity.
•Embracing this season with my little ones and seeing how beautiful it is.

In this next year, we will find a new rhythm, we will look deeper into the simple moments and see the beauty, enjoy the times of chaos and crumbs, learn to let some things go, while picking up the things that matter more. We will encourage creativity, theirs and ours. We will breathe in, say a prayer and thank God for our blessings. We will celebrate, rest and live in a way that fits this season. We will enjoy.

That's where I'm at, guys. What about you? Do you have a "word" for 2013?

  1. Sounds like a great word for you! Sometimes we have to be intentional about enjoying life because it can be so overwhelming! I'm doing this one word project for the first time and I chose the word "fruitful". Here's a link to my post: http://www.ahearteninglife.com/2013/01/one-word-one-year.html

Best wishes as you enjoy 2013!

  2. Great one word, Angela!

I like what you say about change. I used to love change. I lived in a constant state of change...now that I'm a bit older that love has faded, big time! However, remembering change is nescessary and good is something I need to do a bit more.

    So nice meeting you.
