A Day in the Life

Today I randomly decided to do a day in the life post. I guess I'm just increasingly aware of how I need to soak up these last few moments/days/weeks, before life changes and we switch gears into welcoming a new baby.

I've noticed that when I keep my camera out and intentionally try to catch our ordinary life and document it, life seems less mundane and definitely more sweet. The simple moments are the moments that I daily want to take note of and celebrate. When I'm photographing my kids playing blocks together, it reminds me of just how precious it is to see their relationship unfolding. Instead of taking it for granted, my gratitude is increased.

And so, here's a day in our life......

My alarm went off at 6:30am this morning. I turned it off and went back to sleep. I might be near my due date, but by golly, I still sleep- and I sleep well.

Around 7:15am, I headed into the kitchen, had breakfast and coffee and read a few of the blogs that fill up my Google Reader. I've tried to cut way back on which blogs I subscribe to, but even when I select "Unsubscribe", they still fill up my reader. Help?! Anyone???
Judah watched one "Little Einsteins" and then he played with his Connect Four game, which he calls Checkers. Both he and Paisley love playing around with that game.
After they had breakfast, they played for awhile while I unloaded and loaded the dishwasher and swept the floor. and pregnant.
 Playing blocks while Mommy cleans.

Later in the morning we headed out to Target. Normally the kids are pretty good shoppers, but today could have been better. It wasn't anything awful- just a few tears here and there and lots of "you better cut it out" whispers from me.

Afterwards, we shopped Costco and had a quick lunch with Daddy. What a nice surprise that was!
When we got home, I put the kids down for naps, wrote a blog post for Seventh Generation (so excited to share more about that later!) and worked on my hospital bag.
 Baby's going home
Judah napped for only about an hour, which is short for him. When he got up, he wanted to use the binoculars. After I gave them to him, he sat at the table and carefully wiped them down with the cleaning rag that was in their case. Non-traditional toys are pretty common around here these days.
When Paisley woke up, he went in with me to get her. Right now, she naps in the baby's room. It's just easier that way.
The kids wanted me to make them a green smoothie so, that's what they had for an afternoon snack.
2 ripe bananas
2 extra large handfuls of spinach
Approx. 1 1/2 cups of apple juice

They drank up the entire thing by themselves within minutes.

The evening was filled with wrestling with Daddy, leftover Taco Soup and Quesadillas for dinner, baths for the kids, pajamas, stories and dishes.
And now a question for you all.....

I've been thinking that I might write another pregnancy update or two, before I pop. Anything I should cover? Ask me anything and I'll (with a few exceptions) answer anything!

  1. if you've subscribed via GFC, you have to unsubscribe through blogger (can't remember exactly how to get to that page but poke around a bit and you'll find it), otherwise they'll keep coming up in your reader. and I just found out yesterday that they are doing away with google reader this summer!!

    1. Thanks Katie. I'll go take a look- that should help! I know- it's going to be weird without the google reader. I wonder what everyone will do to stay connected with the sites that don't go through GFC??

    2. I just love
is true....daily little life experiences are precious with loved ones

    3. you might still have a problem with blogs that you "unconnect" through GFC. I have had a few that randomly appear in my reader every once in awhile eventhough I have gone through blogger and GFC to unsubscribe.

I will be so lost without my reader as I really don't like reading blogs from my dashboard...check out, I haven't yet but I hear good things about it.

Best wishes with the birth of your new little one!

Thank you for your comments. I read every single one of them and they always make me smile.
