A Girl and Her Birds

We watched the Mama sit on her eggs...
The Mama feed her tiny babies....

The babies get bigger.....
And bigger....
Then we watched the Mama feed those babies some more....
For about 10 days, every 5 to 10 minutes, she fed those babies.
Today the babies left their nest.
As I sat at our table, I heard the Robin's outside, making a huge commotion.
I looked into the yard to see what was going on, and there was Paisley and "her baby bird".
She was talking so sweet to it. "Hi baby bird! You're my baby bird!!!"
I grabbed my phone (for pictures), ran outside, snapped a few and then explained to Paisley that even baby birds need their space. I admit, I really wanted to just sit there with Paisley and hold that tiny bird, but I know better, even though that would have been so fun.
My girl LOVES animals and I get it. When I was much, much younger, I found a fawn in the woods one day and brought it home to show my Mom. Seriously, I scooped up a baby deer and carried it to my house. Apparently I've always had an over-active mothering instinct and I think my 2 year old gets that from me. I love it. Together, we'll watch birds, chase kitties, drool over puppies and talk Daddy into getting chickens. She's a girl after my heart.
