Blog Forward Challenge #1 By Zone Perfect

This year, I'm taking part in a Blog Forward challenge sponsored by Zone Perfect. Basically, every month or so, they'll be sending out prompts for me to write on. As always, these opinions are all mine. So, here we go!
Wow, I don't know about you guys, but I can't believe that we're nearing the end of February. It's crazy, isn't it? How are your New Years Resolutions going? Did you make any or are you more of a non-resolution kind of gal?

Personally, I love stepping into a new year with intentional plans. I like resolutions. I like the feeling of making goals and hoping to make the new year the best year ever. No, I don't always keep my resolutions, but I feel like it's better to at least try, than to not do anything at all.

A few of my resolutions this year were:

To go to bed earlier and wake up earlier. You guys, this is a hard one for me. I know without a doubt that our days goes better when Mama is up before everyone else, freshly caffeinated and filled with God's word, before the rest of the house wakes up. This is like the biggest key to success in our day, and yet, it's still one of my biggest struggles. So, I've gotten better at this, but I still have work to do.

•To feed myself and my family healthier foods. Mostly, we're talking high protein foods, lots of produce and foods that are good fuel for our bodies. I've really been trying to avoid feeding our kids empty calories. They are young and I want to feed them intentionally. I really believe that what I feed them now, will influence what they eat when they're older. I feel like I'm setting the blue print right now for their future tastes and the way they treat their bodies.

To do what I'm already doing well, to be okay with saying "No" and make my YES valuable. I've realized lately that I don't need to be out doing every single thing that everyone else is doing. I'm finding freedom in saying "No" and I'm realizing that my "Yes" is more valuable when I'm committing to only the things that were really meant for me. It's easy, you know, to want to run around doing what everyone else is doing, but that isn't for me right now. I've found a lot of peace in reminding myself that I have 3 small kids and slowing down and enjoying this time with them is the best thing that I can be doing right now. As I slow down, the things that we do, we all enjoy more. When Mama isn't too busy, Mama is happier and you know when Mama is happy, everyone else is happy.
To keep these goals in mind, I've written myself a little letter.

Dear Angela,
The only thing that will ever hold you back is your own fears. Remember that you are strong, that you were made for this and that in the end, you'll be so glad that you stuck with it. Be the strong girl that you were created to be. Do what's right, even when what's right isn't what's normal. Keep the end goals in mind and push through, because you know you'll never regret it.
Be what you were created for. Do the things that make you feel free. Dream big and know that you are more than capable.  Let go of anything that holds you back, press on and know that it's worth it.
Love, Your Future Self

What were your goals for this year and how are they coming along?
Angela

  1. I like the word here - "intentional" because it is taking a positive step toward building healthy habits for you and family. The days, months, and years do happen quickly and it is very wise to invest some time and effort to honor and serve the people who are most important in our lives. Also, life will always supply many surprising moments and if there is already some structure in the family, it will be easier to navigate through challenging times.
