This Moment// Her First Party

This moment. A Friday ritual. Photos - no words (today I might break that rule a bit)- capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.
Yesterday, we packed the car full of cupcakes, simple decorations, food, and favors and we headed out to the playground to celebrate Eliza turning one. I love where we live, but the weather around here is terribly unreliable and let's just say that it didn't rain at her party, but it was very cold and windy.

Despite the wind, we had the best time with our friends and family. Last night as I put things away from the party, I couldn't get over what special friends we have. Friends that'll come out and celebrate our girl with us in the cold and wind. Friends that are the best Moms. There were over 20 kids there and I don't think anyone cried, except for Eliza, when she dropped her cupcake and in her defense, if it was my Birthday and I dropped my cake, I think I'd cry, too. The kids all played together so well.  You know when you feel like you might just burst because you're so grateful for the people you get to do life with? Yeah, that's how I felt last night.

The night before her Birthday, I got my writing/crying/my baby is turning one post out. It's out of my system now and today, I'll just leave some photos from her party. I'm done with the crying, my baby is one now stuff. I'm moving on, because having a 1 year old, a 3 year old and a 5 year old is pretty awesome.
Let's do this thing.

  1. Awww! What a cutie! Happy birthday Eliza! Time goes so fast!

  2. Such pretty cupcakes. Isn't it great how they dive into that first "bite" of cake?!

So lovely! Yes, the growing is bittersweet. But much more sweet. My "baby" turned 11 in December and her oldest sister, 31 in July. Sometimes I long for those precious baby days, but oh the days now are so very grand!

    Cupcakes look yummy! My Moment:

  5. It's nice to hear that baby days are good and days with older kids are good, too. I love having little kids, but I can see how things will be a little less demanding when they're older.

So so sweet! I love first birthdays! Not only are you celebrating your child, but a year of your life with that amazing baby! (Which isn't always easy.) Congrats! :)

Thank you for your comments. I read every single one of them and they always make me smile.
