30 Things Right Now

Because it's been a wonderful and packed weekend. Because it's September and I love everything about this month and because lists make me happy....
30 Things Right Now.

1. Saturday morning we went on a hike to the Ice Caves. It rained the whole time, but it was still so fun.
 2. The kids could stop and play in the woods along the hike every 2 feet, if we let them. Judah was climbing everything and taking every opportunity he could find to try and find a "short cut" off the path.
 3. Last year when we went, Paisley's legs got tired and she ended up riding on Daddy's shoulders. This year, she walked the entire way. I'm proud of that girl. She's becoming such a fun little adventurer!
 4. Along the path, we noticed a few wild huckleberries that were nearing the end of their season. Last year, we went about 2 weeks earlier in the year and the bushes were covered so, we brought containers with us, anticipating lots of berries. The bushes ended up being pretty bare, but we still enjoyed a few along the way.
 5. Eliza napped in the Ergo against my chest for a good part of our hike. This poor baby has been on the go all weekend and tonight, it showed. She's had 3 days in a row without a regular nap and she was all sorts of grumpy.

6. Cheers to starting new routines/getting back to old routines tomorrow!

7. I like my kids rested.

8. Having them normally well rested has really made life with 3 little ones way easier.

9. Sleep is good.....okay, enough about sleep.

10. I've been wearing her on my back lately and having her on my front was sweet, but my word, that girl is getting heavy. At her last appointment, she was 27lbs. Having her on my back is MUCH more comfortable. But, that face....I just can't get over it.
11. Even though is was raining, it was still gorgeous. The fog and the mountains were amazing!
12. I still can't get over the fact that we get to live in an area this beautiful. Honestly, I hope I never get over it. Wouldn't it be a shame to start taking it all for granted and not let it blow you away? It's way more fun to let things get you excited, don't you agree?
 13. On the way home from our hike, we played a game in the car, that I'll call "Would You Rather". Normally, we play music for the kids in the back and Jeremiah and I ask each other questions like "would you rather go a week without underwear or wear the same ones all week?" Or more mild stuff like "would you rather bungee jump or go sky diving?" It's a great way to pass the time and really get to know each other all over again. And for the record, after playing that for almost 2 hours on Saturday, you'll probably never want to compete against us on one of those "How Well Do You Know Your Spouse" games.  After Saturday, it's like we've been married for 60 years.

14. Anyway- one of the questions I asked him was if he'd choose apple pie or pumpkin pie at that very moment and as soon as I said the word PIE, Judah suddenly piped in. "Did someone say PIE??? PIE? We're having pie?!"

15. You guessed it, that night I ended up making a pumpkin pie at 6pm.

16. For all who want to know, Pumpkin Pie tastes WAY better in August or September than it does after you've stuffed yourself on Thanksgiving and you're only eating it to make the person who brought it happy.

17. The funny thing is that I didn't realize that the recipe makes TWO pies. So, we ended up bringing one over to our new neighbors who've I've been needing to introduce myself to anyway.

18. So, basically- make a pumpkin pie. I forgot how good it is!
 19. Sunday we went to church and then we headed out to the Mobile Food Fight for Hunger.

20. This event was absolutely a blast! I mean, what's better than the Top 10 food trucks of Seattle, serving up amazing food, all for a great cause???

21. I had British Fish & Chips, from the Nosh food truck and I was absolutely blown away! It doesn't hurt that the guy taking orders is full of charisma either- and that he has a real British accent. Next time I'm in Seattle, I'm going to track down this food truck again. It was out of this world.
22. One of the best family photos we've had in a long time. I'm so glad these are my people.
 23. Today I went to Target to get a few last minute things for the week. Spontaneously, I decided I'd get the  kids a couple surprises for their first days of school.

 24. The book section is where it all hit me. "Even Droids Need Friends" and I almost started balling right there in Target. Gosh. How is it that my baby is going into kindergarten?

25. September is going to hopefully continue to be a great month for the garden. Right now we have tomatoes turning everyday.
 26. And lemon cucumbers.
 27. And all sorts of squash and zucchinis and lots of other stuff.
 28. I decided on our rooster's name. This is Mr. Darcy. He isn't crowing yet and he's still nice so, it's TBD if he'll be staying with us permanently. Judah's attached to him. Darn it. We're like that around here.
 29. The pumpkins turning make me excited about fall, sweaters, boots and pumpkin patches.
30. I hope you had a great weekend! What did you do?

Angela
