Tonight we headed to the pumpkin patch, just before sunset. Dinner was in the crock pot, my girls were feeling a bit better from being sick for most of the week and it just seemed like the right thing to do before dinner. The day was so beautiful that I felt like I could just about burst when I stepped outside during naptime. It just feels like there's so much beauty everywhere right now. Even my garden still has things growing in it. I keep on expecting it to all die off and it just continues on. When I was out there today, Matt Redmond's song "10,000 Reasons" came to mind. When I came in, I couldn't help but play it on repeat for the next hour.
"The sun comes up
It's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes"
This pumpkin patch is one of my favorites. It's a family owned little business on the side of the road, with just the right size corn maze, a few wheelbarrows, knives for cutting pumpkins and endless photo opportunities. It's simple and it has that authentic, small town feel that I love.
The kids had a blast running around. They each picked out a pumpkin and I grabbed a few little white pumpkins. Have you seen those? I think they're just about the cutest thing. Next year, I'd love to try and grow them.
I thought I'd share a few photos from our adventure here and tomorrow I'll be posting my "Favorites Roundup" for the week. There's a lot of good stuff that I'm excited to share.
1. Walks with the kids.
2. Short and meaningful visits on the front porch with friends.
3. When Paisley calls me "Queen" and asks me to call her "Princess"
4. Songs that come to mind, just when I need them.
5. Kids that laugh loud.
6. That it's okay to be blown away with all the good in the world, while still being aware of the heartache.
7. For friends that share good soup recipes, that include bacon.
Tell me about your day. What was the best part? What are you thankful for right now?
