Daily Story: The Decked Out Coop and Friday Favorites

“Your life, right now, today, is exploding with energy and power and detail and dimension, better than the best movie you have ever seen. You and your family and your friends and your house and your dinner table and your garage have all the makings of a life of epic proportions, a story for the ages. Because they all are. Every life is.You have stories worth telling, memories worth remembering, dreams worth working toward, a body worth feeding, a soul worth tending, and beyond that, the God of the universe dwells within you, the true culmination of super and natural. You are more than dust and bones. You are spirit and power and image of God…and you have been Given today.”
-Shauna Niequist

Today we cleaned the coop, which somehow turned into stringing plastic balls on ribbon, homemade wreaths made with clippings from our tree and stapling lights on with daddy's big stapler. Something about a decked out coop just makes me smile. I can't believe we almost didn't decorate it.

We started by pulling pine needles off branches that we had to cut from our tree in order to fit it into the stand.

Then the kids worked hard stringing plastic balls on ribbon.
And the chickens came over to take a looky-look and give their opinions.

Now the coop is ready for Christmas and the kids are asking about good presents for chickens. Any suggestions?
Ending the week with a few Friday Favorites:

A must watch Christmas music video:

A pie for every chocolate lover.
Chocolate Fudge Pie, recipe found here
I made this today for a Birthday dessert  to celebrate my dear friend Barb. Let's just say that we didn't have much left over.
A family activity you don't want to miss.
If you're local, you should definitely check out this walk-thru living nativity. We went tonight and our whole family just loved it. It's free and it only takes about 20-30 minutes. I'm not sure how long it'll be going on, but I know it's happening Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th, from 6-8pm. Definitely check it out.
A quote I'm currently loving:
A movie I can't wait to see.
Yes, kleenex by the dozen will be needed for this one.
In theaters March 3-5. Click here for more info and get it on the calendar now.
The Drop Box
Happy weekend, friends. Anything you're looking forward to?

  1. I was looking at your post on Ali's site and saw your comments about The Drop Box. It isn't showing in my city in Iowa, but it will be in Cedar Falls. We are definitely going. Thanks for sharing that info!
